Paul W. Noble, MD, is Professor of Medicine and Associate Chief of the Pulmonary and Critical Care Section at Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut. He also serves as Director of the Interstitial Lung Disease Clinic at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Dr. Noble received his undergraduate degree at Haverford College, and received his medical degree at New York University in New York, New York. After completing his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco Hospitals, he completed his pulmonary and critical care training at the University of Colorado and National Jewish Center in Denver, Colorado. He is board certified in Internal, Pulmonary, and Critical Care Medicine.
Dr. Noble's research interests include macrophage biology, mechanisms of pulmonary inflammation and fibrosis, extracellular matrix-macrophage interactions. He serves as the principal investigator for numerous studies for the National Institutes of Health. He lectures extensively on topics, including macrophage gene expression and approaches to patients with interstitial lung diseases.
Dr. Noble is a member of the editorial board for The Journal of Immunology and American Journal of Respiratory Cell and Molecular Biology. He currently serves as a member of the advisory board on the Coalition for Pulmonary Fibrosis and on the Research Grant Review Committee for the American Lung Association. Dr. Noble has published his research in several prestigious journals, such as Science, The Journal of Clinical Investigation, Journal of Experimental Medicine, Journal of Immunology, and The New England Journal of Medicine.
