NSIP, high magnification

Nonspecific interstitial pneumonia with fibrosis: At higher magnification, diffuse thickening of alveolar walls is consistently present; these may taper as they join the pleura (P). This phenomenon is in stark contrast to UIP where fibrosis tends to be most confluent beneath the pleura. (Hematoxylin and eosin stain, 40X original magnification.)
