Sjögren's syndrome with LIP and thin-walled cysts

HRCT through the lower lobes shows thin-walled cysts (arrows). These are similar in appearance, size, and number to those seen in the upper lobes. In patients with Sjögren's syndrome and some other collagen diseases, this appearance strongly suggests lymphoid interstitial pneumonia (LIP), which is the diagnosis in this case. Typically cysts in LIP are not as numerous as in patients with lymphangioleiomyomatosis or Langerhans cell histiocytosis.
