Biopsy proven DIP

Biopsy proven DIP. Patchy areas of ground-glass opacity are visible in the peripheral lung (red arrows). In addition, cystic lucencies are visible peripherally (yellow arrows). These do not represent honeycombing, which is quite uncommon in DIP, but can mimic its appearance. In some cases, these cystic lucencies may reflect emphysema, another smoking-related abnormality.
