Cellular and Fibrotic NSIP
Combined or mixed cellular and fibrotic NSIP are characterized by:
- Mononuclear inflammatory cells diffusely involved in the interstitium
- Irregular thickening and fusion of alveolar septa by fibrosis
(fusion shown in the box)
The pleura (P) in this example is markedly thickened and inflamed
