Patient with long-term nitrofurantoin therapy


HRCT at 2 levels (Images 5 and 6) in a patient with long-term nitrofurantoin therapy. Scans show reticulation, traction bronchiectasis, and honeycombing with a peripheral and basal predominance (arrows). This appearance mimics that of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Lung biopsy showed both usual interstitial pneumonia (UIP) and nonspecific interstitial pneumonia (NSIP). Image 5 >>
