“Ferruginous” bodies

Asbestosis-related UIP: Classical asbestos “ferruginous” bodies (fb) are present in parenchymal fibrosis. The asbestos fiber runs down the middle of these structures, with globular iron encrustation forming “golden beads” of varying sizes along the course. (Hematoxylin and eosin stain, 600 x original magnification).
