HRCT of early IPF with minimal honeycombing HRCT of early IPF with minimal honeycombing

Supine high-resolution CT (HRCT) through the lung bases in a patient with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). This patient has less advanced IPF than shown in Image 1. The predominant abnormalities include reticulation and traction bronchiectasis (yellow arrows). The term traction bronchiectasis refers to bronchial dilatation resulting from lung fibrosis. Honeycombing (red arrow) in the subpleural lung is minimal in this patient.
