Advanced IPF with significant honeycombing Advanced IPF with significant honeycombing

Prone high-resolution CT (HRCT) in a patient with advanced idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). Scans obtained in the prone position are very helpful in the diagnosis of IPF, particularly in its earliest stages. As is typical of advanced IPF, honeycombing (arrows) is present, and in this case, is the predominant finding. Involvement of the posterior lung bases and costophrenic angles is typical, as is predominance in the subpleural lung.
