Target Audience

This activity is intended for pulmonologists, pathologists, radiologists, and other health care providers managing patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF).

Statement of Need

Despite recent progress, there remain distinct challenges in the diagnosis and management of IPF. In addition, the rapid emergence of scientific evidence has prompted a reexamination of standard clinical approaches. As new findings become available, it will become even more important to translate this information into practical, relevant guidance for clinical practice. This education will help pulmonologists and other health care providers assess and manage their patients with IPF.

Educational Activity Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, the participants should be able to:
  • Utilize indicators of disease status to diagnose, assess, and manage patients with IPF
  • Discuss recent evidence of therapies used in the management of IPF
  • Describe important treatment considerations in addressing comorbidities in patients with IPF
  • Engage in effective patient communication and collaborative care practices to improve patient understanding and use of ancillary therapies in IPF care
