Paul W. Noble, MD, is Professor of Medicine and Associate Chief of the Pulmonary and Critical Care Section at Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut. He also serves as Director of the Interstitial Lung Disease Clinic at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Dr. Noble received his undergraduate degree at Haverford College, and received his medical degree at New York University in New York, New York. After completing his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco Hospitals, he completed his Pulmonary and Critical Care training at the University of Colorado and National Jewish Center in Denver, Colorado. He is board certified in Internal, Pulmonary, and Critical Care Medicine.
Dr. Noble's basic science research interests include macrophage biology, mechanisms of pulmonary inflammation and fibrosis, and extracellular matrix-macrophage interactions. He currently serves as the principal investigator on four research grants funded by the National Institutes of Health. He also serves as the principal investigator on two industry-sponsored clinical trials in IPF and is a member of the scientific advisory board for the Coalition for Pulmonary Fibrosis.
Dr. Noble is a member of the American Society of Clinical Investigation and Interurban Clinical Club and is on the editorial board for The Journal of Immunology and American Journal of Respiratory Cell and Molecular Biology. Dr. Noble has published his research in journals, including Science, The Journal of Clinical Investigation, Journal of Experimental Medicine, Journal of Immunology, and The New England Journal of Medicine.
