Case Study: 56-year-old Caucasian male police officer has had mild but progressive exertional dyspnea after walking two flights of stairs. This condition has persisted for the past month. Dyspnea became worse today, prompting emergency room evaluation.

Chest Radiograph in Emergency Room

The chest radiograph shows lower lobe predominant infiltrates that are dense enough to suggest an alveolar filling component to this disease. Another feature that suggests alveolar filling is an obscured left hemidiaphragm.
