Case Study: 75-year-old Caucasian Male With One Month History of Chest Discomfort With Exertion

This chest radiograph shows decreased lung volumes with nonspecific reticular opacities at the lung bases. This appearance is nonspecific but consistent with IPF. Basal atelectasis could have a similar appearance. The radiograph does not suggest pulmonary edema. Based on the CXR appearance, a pulmonary consult is ordered for pre-operative clearance.

An HRCT is ordered.
