Educational Need
Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a debilitating and almost uniformly fatal disease. Despite recent progress, the diagnosis and management of IPF remain distinct clinical challenges, further complicated by the rapid emergence of scientific evidence that challenges conventional wisdom and prompts a reexamination of standard therapeutic approaches. The aim of the PILOT™ initiative is to provide a forum for the open exchange of scientific ideas that results in the timely dissemination of emerging knowledge, facilitates clinical decision making, and improves patient outcomes.
Intended Audience
This educational activity is intended for pulmonologists, pathologists, radiologists, and primary care physicians treating patients with IPF.
Learning Objectives
After reviewing the case, participants will be able to:
- Identify diagnostic features associated with the representative interstitial lung disease case presented herein, and combine clinical, radiologic, and pathologic information to obtain the correct diagnosis and prognosis
