Kirk D. Jones, MD, is Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Anatomic Pathology at the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF). Dr. Jones received his undergraduate degree from Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island, and his medical degree from the UCSF, where he also completed his residency in Anatomic Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. Dr. Jones completed fellowships in Surgical Pathology and Cytopathology, also at UCSF.
Dr. Jones is active in the teaching of Anatomic Pathology residents, medical students, and members of the medical community. At UCSF, he directs the pulmonary pathology division and leads the pathology portions of the interdisciplinary conferences for thoracic oncology, lung transplantation, and interstitial lung disease. Dr. Jones has been published in scientific publications such as Pathology, American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation, Proceedings of the National Academy of Science, Journal of Pathology, American Journal of Respiratory Cell and Molecular Biology, and Head & Neck. He has authored chapters in two of the leading pulmonary pathology textbooks.
Dr. Jones is a member of numerous medical organizations, including the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, Pulmonary Pathology Society, and International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation.
